Club Trials/Selection Weekend

Saturday 3rd September / Sunday 4th September 2011

Over the weekend of Saturday 3rd September and Sunday 4th September we will be running a packed set of hockey sessions to enable team captains, coaches and managers to begin to understand their teams for the forthcoming season. With all teams within the club having a successful 2010/2011 season we want to build upon these successes with another great performance during 2011/2012. The weekend will be organised nearer the time by team officials and all players will be contacted nearer the time to confirm final details and timings for matches. This is also a great weekend opportunity for potential new members to come along and meet the club and find a team that is suitable for their ability. We pride ourselves in our diversity in team standards, running 6 mens, 6 ladies, 1 veterans and 3 development teams next season (not to mention the volumes of minis) we can provide standards from the top Premier Mens league downwards, and the East Womens league downwards, teams represented in pretty much every league run within the East. This is a great weekend opportunity for existing and new members to get back into the season and challenge for those places throughout the club.

Please note, if you cannot make this weekend due to holiday commitments then this is not the end of the world, it is just an element that will help team officials for next season, if you miss this then you still have the training sessions and pre-season friendly matches to prepare for the season ahead.

Training Sessions

Pre-season training has began again in earnest. If you haven't noticed yet, there have been some alterations to training times for the coming season, so, it is important that you check the 'TRAINING' section of the website to view the changes that may affect you. Also, in light of the Men's first team being promoted, they, and the Men's second team, will be undertaking two training sessions per week.

Advertising at Taverham

Please remember that we have pitch side advertising board slots available. If you, or your friends and family members would like to advertise their business at Taverham, please email advertising@norwichcityhc.co.uk with your enquiry.

Our astro-turf pitch at Taverham, is also used by Taverham High School, Broadland Hockey Club and the Extreme Soccer league, which sees the pitch full almost 7 days a week, 5 evenings and all day Saturday and through Sunday mornings.

Each pitchside hoarding can be singlesided or doublesided depending upon location and costs £175/£250 for the first year (includes the production and installation of the board itself) and £150/£100 for subsequent years. The board is an aluminium honeycomb construction, approx 75cm high x 3m wide and is installed in a vacant gap of your choosing (spaces are allocated on a first come first serve basis).

We also have website advertising as well as clothing sponsorship possibilities available. Our Club relies heavily on funds raised from advertising and support from local businesses is crucial to the successful running of our Club.

New Club Lottery Members

Congratulations to all of you who signed up to the club lottery at last year's Club Day, you helped contributed an extra £1000 to club funds, helping us raise money for our second pitch.

We need at least another 17 members to join this year to continue the good work and raise another £1000. The lottery costs only £5.00 per month giving you the chance to win:

  • One monthly prize of 5% of monthly pot
  • One annual prize of 5% of annual pot

It is quick and easy to join, just complete two application forms which can be found on our website.

The forms to complete are:

  • A lottery application form – this will enable us to reclaim your Gift Aid tax. So print off and complete the form and send it to Steve Meek 65 Raymond Road, Norwich. NR6 6PN.
  • A bank standing order mandate print off, complete, sign and then either pop into your local branch, post the form to our bank or set up the mandate online.

Alternatively to make it even easier complete both forms and give them to Angela Fletcher to process on your behalf.

So are you feeling lucky?

Junior Development Centres (JDCs)

2011 Norfolk JDCs
Norfolk Hockey Association have arranged some JDC Talent Roadshows over the summer.

The sessions are to encourage more young people into the county JDC and JAC programme. EHB and the Norfolk Hockey Development Group are working together to make the 2011/12 programme the best yet.

The Roadshow days are a great opportunity to have a fun day playing hockey whilst picking up the latest skills in this exciting Olympic sport. The sessions are aimed at boys and girls aged 12 to 17. There are three venues and players are able to attend one or more days.

Players with potential will then be invited into the Norfolk’s Single System talent programme which includes Junior Development Centres (JDC) - coaching from September to November and Junior Academy Centre (JAC) programme which will take place from January to May 2012.

Players already involved in the county JDC or JAC programme are encouraged to attend. (Not applicable to JRPC players.)

There is one more roadshow to come, at Hobart High School, Loddon on Thursday 25th August.
